Our Philosophy

The Roberts Creek Childcare Society is a registered charity and non profit society located in Roberts Creek, BC adjacent to RobertsCreekElementary School. Our centre is nestled in the forest and is surrounded by local wildlife, animals and birds, and a peek a boo view of the ocean as well.

Our preschool classes are taught by certified Early Childhood Educators who have trained in Emergent curriculum based on the Emilio Reggio ideology which encourages exploration and creativity while learning a sense of community and encouraging social involvement.

In the after school programs we work closely with the elementary school, picking up and dropping off students at their classes or the school bus. The major focus of the after school programs is to teach the children how to engage in creative play, how to create strong friendships, and how to be part of a healthy community. We stress equality, creativity, personal heath and community building through dialogue.

The summer program is a combination of art and sports play with a lot of physical activity and field trips throughout the community. This camp is a great time for children to relax and unwind from a long year of school while still being involved in activities that encourage both gross and fine motor skills, collaboration, creativity and art. The camps teachers are university trained in education and have created a strong curriculum which focuses on personal and community development.

In essence the ideas we put forth come from both our education as well as our experiences in teaching and are reduced to the following:
